Guided Hike at Monson Center
|
Step back in time to Monson, the earliest inland Colonial-era settlement in New Hampshire (1737–1770). Tour the Joseph Gould House, explore easy trails to the stone cellar holes of original settlers, and visit a unique wetland home to a Great Blue Heron rookery. The Forest Society purchased Monson in 1998 to protect its historic resources after the site was once proposed for residential subdivision.
Leaders: Dave Anderson and fellow land stewards The Forest Society’s Annual DIY “5 Hikes Challenge” runs from August 30 to October 31. Complete the hikes on your own schedule, or join one of our optional, staff-led outings to explore new or classic destinations during the challenge. These guided hikes are open to everyone—not just challenge participants—and offer a great way to visit and learn more about our properties. Date:
