Join us at Grafton Pond for an introductory workshop on ice fishing. You will learn how to use tip ups and other ice fishing equipment, ice safety, knot tying, fish identification, ethics, rules and regulations, and basic winter aquatic ecology. Partnering with New Hampshire Fish & Game’s “Let's Go Fishing” program, this workshop will give you a chance try ice fishing.
Registration: This event is free, family-friendly (kids over 8), and no fishing license or any equipment is required. Registration is required (please register all participants ages 8 or older) and limited to the first 20 people.
Location: Meet at Grafton Pond Reservation Boat launch at 9:00 AM. Turn onto Grafton Pond Rd off Route 4a directly to boat ramp.
Bring: Please dress very warmly, with wind and snow proof layers (it is often cold and windy out on the ice), insulated boots, warm hats, and mittens or gloves to keep fingers warm. Bring water and snacks or a bag lunch to enjoy, and a folding/camp chair if you don’t want to stand for several hours.
About Grafton Pond: Grafton Pond is a 300+ acre lake with more than 20 islands and an almost entirely undeveloped shoreline. The Forest Society owns 933 acres surrounding the pond, including 6 of the 7 miles of shorefront — thanks to generous local donors and conservationists, this land is protected from development in perpetuity.
