A wintry stream landscape.

The Bretzfelder Park Committee and the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests is hosting Owls of New Hampshire, An Introduction to Nature’s Nightshift on February 21 at 6 at Bretzfelder Park in Bethlehem. Please join us at the Park on Wednesday, February 21 at 6 p.m. to kick off our 2024 winter educational series.

Did you know that it is possible to spot 11 species of owls in New Hampshire?  Depending on the season and the conditions, these amazing wild neighbors astound with their beauty and hunting skills.

Join Sarah Kern, co-founder, and lead educator from Tailwinds: Raptor Education and Conservation, for an hour-long presentation discussing these phenomenal raptors and their ecology, adaptations, habitats and how the Forest Society and you can help them in this ever-changing world. An introduction of the 11 species of owls, both native New Hampshirites and visitors alike, will provide an overview of these spectacular wild neighbors. This is not a youth program, but super family friendly and children are welcome.

The free program is interactive and designed to engage and educate audience members of all ages.

About the Presenter:

Sarah Kern grew up on the east coast and while traveling to visit family out west she learned to love the outdoors through camping, hiking, and exploring. She holds her Master’s in Education and a BA in Communications. Kern is the Education Program Coordinator at Creek Farm and Naturalist for the Forest Society as well as a co-founder and Lead Educator at Tailwinds: Raptor Education and Conservation. With over 25 years of educator experience in formal and informal settings at all ages and stages, Kern has found that connecting and learning about nature and our wild neighbors with her community is where she is most at home. She resides in Strafford, New Hampshire with her partner, two children, and a menagerie of rescue animals and can be found skiing in the winter, kayaking in the summer, and always looking up to see who is flying overhead.

The Bretzfelder Park Family Educational series is presented each year in winter and summer by the Forest Society and the Bretzfelder Park Committee.
