Celebrate the winter night sky with the Forest Society! Join our Senior Outreach Manager, Nigel Manley, on a moonlit snowshoe hike on the trails at The Rocks. The hike will meet in the parking lot of our new Carriage Barn before setting off into the woods to explore the historical buildings that remain on the property, including the Sawmill Pigpen, the Pump House and the Bee House. Learn how these buildings supported the Glessner family during their residency at The Rocks, and how they have been transformed to meet the needs of our modern community!

Finish the hike in the amphitheater and find out why the Forest Society chose to transform the former site of the Tool Shed and Electric Plant into this gorgeous scenic feature. Manley will also provide the natural history of the property, why it has been transformed into a working Christmas tree farm and how the Forest Society manages the land today.

After the hike, warm up in the Carriage Barn over a steaming cup of hot cocoa, and take an optional guided tour of the new community center! We can’t wait to welcome you to the new space and celebrate the new year.

This hike is rated as easy to moderate and is family friendly! Bring your snowshoes, poles if you’d like them, and plenty of layers in case it’s chilly. We would also strongly recommend bringing some water and snacks. If there is no snow, we will continue with a regular dry-land hike.

This event is ticketed. For members: $5. For not-yet-members: $15. Children are free.
