Date:
Saturday, June 8, 2024
Time:
10:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Location:
Deepwood Forest Conservation Easement
A view from above of Deepwood Forest.

Join conservation easement donors and landowners Ken and Illene Stern, with naturalist, Dave Anderson of the Forest Society, for a special guided Saturday morning tour of the new Deepwood Forest conservation easement in Canterbury. Choose from an easy, introductory walk to Wilflower Meadow or a longer hiking tour- or take both!

This nearly 400-acre tract includes an exceptional network of trails and interior woods roads leading to a wildflower meadow, a beaver pond trail to a viewing platform, and a more rugged hike on the Deepwood Trail to the Northwest Loop Trail including a vista of surrounding hills. Learn about the property’s history, wildlife habitat features, and forest management and protection. (Read an article on this conservation success story from January 2024.)

The easy walk (1 hour; moderate) will be followed by the more extensive hike (2 hours; rugged)... join for either or both (but everyone starts together at 10 AM). Carpooling is recommended.
