Fanny's Playhouse with Fanny

Ever wondered what the tiny building sitting outside the Carriage Barn at The Rocks is? In, 1886 Isaac Scott designed a log cabin playhouse for eight-year-old Fanny Glessner at the family’s summer estate here in Bethlehem. Recently, author Abigail A. Van Slyck published a book entitled Playhouses and Privilege: The Architecture of Elite Childhood which includes talking about Fanny’s House.

Join us on Saturday, May 17 to learn more about Fanny’s House. We will learn about the history of The Rocks, hike up to the original site of construction, look at where the building was moved to by Fanny’s daughter and then go through the building in it’s current location. After our tour outside, we will move inside the Carriage Barn to watch a viewing of the talk author Abigail A. Van Slyck recently gave about her new published book.

Registration is strongly recommended; walk-ins will be accomodated only if there is room.

Registration: $20 per person.
