Guided Hike at Mount Major
Mount Major

Join Forest Society staff for a guided hike up Mount Major. Learn about recent trail restoration efforts, our trailhead outreach program, and the ongoing 2025 Recreation Use Survey. Along the way, we’ll share the mountain’s history and point out the peaks and islands visible in Mount Major’s famous panoramic view. The blue (Main) Trail is a moderately strenuous 3-mile round trip with 1,150 feet of elevation gain.

Leaders: Carrie Deegan and Dave Anderson

The Forest Society’s Annual DIY “5 Hikes Challenge” runs from August 30 to October 31. Complete the hikes on your own schedule, or join one of our optional, staff-led outings to explore new or classic destinations during the challenge. These guided hikes are open to everyone—not just challenge participants—and offer a great way to visit and learn more about our properties.
