Bretzfelder Park Winter Family Education Series: "Cooperative Agricultural Pest Survey program"
Bretzfelder Park

In this presentation, Morgan and Chris will talk about the federally funded Cooperative Agricultural Pest Survey program and what it means for New Hampshire and the nation. This is a pest detection program designed to help protect American agriculture and natural resources. You will learn which exotic pests were targeted for surveys for the 2025 season throughout New Hampshire and why we chose those locations (including The Rocks).

Register: This program is free to the public. Registration is required for entrance and can be completed at the link below.

(Registration will close on Feb 24. Not yet a member or not sure if you've renewed your membership? Sign up for a membership here, starting at only $45/year, and receive future discounts, or contact tripley@forestsociety.org with questions.)

About the Presenters:

Morgan Dube is a regulatory entomologist for the NH Department of Agriculture, Markets and Food. She works closely with New Hampshire growers and producers to ensure their plant products meet the necessary regulatory requirements for safe transport across state and international borders. Her role includes conducting surveys and inspections to detect both exotic and native pests, engaging in outreach events to educate the public on invasive insects and pest threats, certifying firewood kilns for compliance with interstate firewood regulations, and managing the state’s plant dealer and nursery license database. Morgan has a B.S. in Biology and an M.S. in Zoology, bringing a strong scientific foundation to pest regulation and agricultural protection.

Chris Rallis is an entomologist and the Cooperative Agricultural Pest Survey Coordinator (CAPS SSC) for the New Hampshire Department of Agriculture, Markets and Food.  An early detection through these surveys can significantly reduce the environmental and economic costs of addressing the pest.  Chris has a B.S. in Biology and an M.S. in Entomology, and 14 years focused in insect identification.
