Birding Walk, Proposed Addition to Powder Major's Forest
|
Join us for a morning bird walk on the proposed new addition to Powder Major's Forest. The Forest Society is currently working to conserve this 133 acre parcel, located in Madbury, NH and adjacent to the existing Powder Major's Forest. The property contains excellent wildlife habitat, including acres of shrub-swamp and oak-pine forests which should attract some interesting birdlife during spring migration and the start of the breeding season.
Jack Swatt (long-time birder, Forest Society land steward, and President of the CT chapter of the American Chestnut Foundation), Stacie Hernandez (Land Conservation Project Manager), and Emily Bartolini (Southeast Region Program Manger) will lead this field walk. Come and explore this exciting new wildlife property, look and listen for spring birds, and learn more about our conservation efforts here.
This field trip involves some off-trail walking until we reach a former snowmobile corridor- long pants and hiking/tall boots are recommended as there is some long grass and shrubs. Bring binoculars if you have them, and dress for potentially chilly spring morning weather!
Registration is required for this field trip. Please register by clicking the Sign Me Up button below. Questions about this field trip can be directed to Emily Bartolini at ebartolini@forestsociety.org.
