Wildlife Uncovered: Tracks, Fishers & Living with Bears
Forest Society North at The Rocks

Discover the hidden stories of wildlife in this engaging, multi-part program that blends outdoor exploration with expert insight. Begin with a 2-hour guided walk led by Extension specialists Haley Andreozzi and Emma Tutein, where you’ll learn to identify and interpret wildlife signs—from tracks and scat to nests, feathers, and feeding evidence—across a variety of habitats. As you sharpen your observation skills, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of how animals move through and use the landscape. The program continues with a fascinating look at fishers (often called “fisher cats”), exploring their natural history, ecology, and the latest research on their populations and survival in New Hampshire with Rem Moll.. Finally, spend time with Nancy Comeau learning practical tips for coexisting with black bears, including how proper trash management, removing bird feeders, and other simple actions can help keep both bears and people safe. This well-rounded experience offers valuable knowledge for anyone interested in wildlife and conservation in our region.
