Policy Action Fund

To protect New Hampshire’s forests we must be perpetually vigilant. We need your help today to do just that.

The Forest Society has advocacy in its DNA, you could say – we were founded as part of the campaign to save the White Mountains, which led to passing the 1911 Weeks Act that established the White Mountain National Forest and expanded the National Forest system to include eastern states.

Since then, we’ve led numerous campaigns to protect special places, from Franconia Notch to Mount Monadnock. We defended the integrity of New Hampshire’s conserved lands by fighting and defeating Northern Pass. We’ve helped to create funding programs like the Land and Community Heritage Investment Program (LCHIP) and we’ve convened diverse interests to support sustainable forestry in the Granite State.

Today, the majority of our advocacy work happens proactively and with little fanfare – informing legislation and policy that supports the vitality of our state’s natural resources, and heading off threats before they take hold. Our staff, led by Policy Director Matt Leahy, is on the job every day, whether in the heat of a campaign or quietly working to bring many interests to common goals.

We need your support to continue this critical work!
